On the web, companies advertise on all sorts of websites to get their name out. Usually, these advertisiments are experienced as annoying. I challenge these companies to design their own 950x300px header to entertain the crowd. Take over the full header.

Community News

The community news section has had an upgrade. My good friend Frank Verhoeven has totally rebuild his Community News plugin and I have the opportunity to test it out. I believe that we all should learn from each other, so the community news section of DivitoDesign is the place to get your articles, resources and write-ups out there. We all learn from a healthy community!

Forums

One thing I want to introduce for a long time is a meeting place. A place to discuss articles, talk to each other and get to know fellow web professionals. Community Forums will be there in a very short time. Let’s talk to each other.

Members

Thank you for those that already registered and became a member on DivitoDesign. You might have noticed the login form in the right sidebar, it is now possible to get a membership. Registering gives you an account on DivitoDesign and makes commenting on articles and replying on the forum possible. Become a member.

Guest Writers

I hope to achieve a more consistent stream of articles, inspiration and resources. My plan is to do this together with the community. The more voices and opinions, the more we learn. I try to write a lot of new stuff about my own expertise as well, but I can definitely use some help. Please apply.

Not everything is finished yet?

I know myself. My motivation is usually better when there are deadlines, in this case a published blog post remembering me to finish things.

At this right moment, I am working very hard crafting and building the new DivitoDesign. That means there is absolutely no time to write any articles for the blog, I am sorry for that.

The content flow has been pretty slow lately and that is something I want to improve for a long time. Now is the time. As I don’t have the time to do things myself, I want to call out for guest bloggers!

What Should I Write About?

DivitoDesign is a webdesign blog providing tutorials, how-to’s, articles and resources for web designers. Preferably, you can write about CSS, Typography or Design, but any of the other subjects of the blog are fine too.

For example, you can write about the following subjects:

• Howto: Build a CSS Menu with jQuery

WordPress theme by DivitoDesign: Sharp Waves

What do you think about the theme?

My interests have changed over time. When I started this blog, I wanted a platform to explain all the codes of the web to anyone. Search Engine Optimizing, HTML tutorials, CSS tips and tricks, WordPress codes were things I was very interested in back in these days.

At the moment, my study (communication & multimedia design) is taking a lot of time. That inspired me, that there is a lot more beautiful on the web. In only a short period of time, I have learned a lot about design. That is where my heart is going at the moment, and I wish to extend DivitoDesign in that way too.

That means that you will see a lot more design and inspiration in the upcoming articles. That gives me a complete new and fresh series of ideas that will be published in the upcoming weeks. Here is what you can expect from DivitoDesign pretty soon:

• Beautiful Photography
• Book review of: Los Logos 4
• Beautiful Illustrations, Logos and other design-forms
• New Free WordPress theme

Also, as this magazine style layout is focused on content rather than design, I will implant a couple changes that makes the blog more colorful and stylish.

Good to see you are still there. This is a not an excuse-me post, but a post to clear a few things up about the last couple months when I was gone. But first something about the redesign!

Redesign

After a number of weeks working on a redesign of DivitoDesign, it is finally live. The magazine look has not disappeared, but has greatly improved. DivitoDesign has now a much cleaner homepage (with more color!), a better Community News section, better subscribing options and a better looking advertising section. I have also better structured the permalinks, categories and comments section.

You should definitely check out this new version of DivitoDesign with your own eyes. Maybe you have a few suggestions to make the blog better or if you would like to give your opinion about the redesign in the poll, don’t hesitate! I am very option for criticism.

The Lack of Posts

And than now, the reason why I haven’t posted for such long time. My life has been pretty hectic the last 3 months as I had a number of things I had to finish. After my knee injury, I had to do a 3 time a week physiotherapy schedule, which was pretty intensive. On top of that, I had to do exams for my pre-university eduction and I had to learn driving the car as well. Fortunately, I succeeded in all of these projects.

The Future?

A few of you might remember the fact that I was going to study Physiotheraphy. Unfortunately, I was not elected for that study. Right now, I am thinking to do an education about the field I am really interested in, something with the web, graphic design, web design or advertising. I will let you know what I have choosen as soon as possible.

The Blog

The blog will pick up speed in the number of posts. You can definitely expect one high-quality article per week, supplemented with some extra interesting posts. Those articles will include subjects as Typography, CSS, webdesign, SEO or blogging in general.

I don’t know what’s causing that. However because of this fact, I finally decided to make a new version for DivitoDesign. The magazine and clean look stays as I like that, only I will optimize the grid, make the blog browser-compatible and implant some other tricks I have learnt since the latest redesign.

It did. However, not the way I would like to increase the number of comments. I don’t want to talk to people with the name of “SEO Company London” or “Free Apple Products”. I want to talk to “Richard” and to “Michael” and to anyone out there that want to participate in the discussion. Or the people who simply want to tell another trick, or a way to do things better to myself and my readers.

I couldn’t stand the way my inbox was filled with WordPress comments moderation emails any longer, while many of them were just human “spammers”.

So, if you think you can add value to the blog by commenting on an article you think that suits your opinion or suggestion, I will be more than happy to approve and reply to your comment. I just can not stand those other people anymore.
