Blog Auction Day 08 – Together We Can Help Against Poverty!
I have added 15 October 2008 into my phone agenda ever since I’ve read about this day a month or 3 back.
Today it is Blog Auction Day 2008 and we as bloggers will help raising awareness about the problem the world is still facing with: Poverty.
Poverty really got me thinking today. When I was looking at the Blog Action Day site and saw some of these pictures from children living in the streets with no clothes and no food, my happy mood changed and I got a little bit depressed.

Those people out there on the streets with bling-bling and nice cars should be thinking about these problems too. So do gamblers. And so do people that order $30,- food and eat only 25% while throwing the rest away, while the rest of the world doesn’t have a thing.
Fortunately there are people around the world that do care (just search Google for Poverty..) and initiatives like Blog Action Day should be supported in any possible way.
As a 18-year-old I have tried to help a bit. I tried to donate some money to the Child Poverty campaign, but I needed a credit card (which I don’t have).
That’s why I gave the FreeRice site 3 kilograms of rice and I will visit that site more regularly to help those people feed the poor.
And so should you. It doesn’t cost you money, just a couple minutes of your day. You don’t have an excuse now.
Thank you for your time.

Hello, Do something for help the hungry people in Africa or India,
I added this blog about them:

We can do only so much though. I have a low paying job, have to buy food that’s inflated in price, pay taxes, pay for gas. It’s not us, we are paying enough. It’s our government that needs to do something.
They just spent 600 billion dollars just to bail out banks and about 900+ billion dollars over in Iraq. All in which hasn’t improved our economy or the situation over in Iraq. I’m just glad Obama will be in office shortly, maybe he will have a plan for poverty. Because the last president and his council did not care at all.
Another ongoing situation is healthcare! Obama really has some work cut out for him!
I am sorry that I started blogging to late to participate, but I will mark my calendar for 2009. Thanks for the heads up.
Jo
@Jo – Thanks, you do that!
