Nice ideas here, and I think a lot of them will work, in most cases.

I really like the shout one, and having polls. Both of which I am lacking at the moment. I am considering adding in some polls where they would fit. Thanks for the links!

  2. I am considering adding in some polls where they would fit. Thanks for the links!

  3. Don’t forget to write interesting content! Otherwise visitors won’t feel the need to response to your blog. It may sound silly and logical but in the end it’s the most important thing.

Besides this: setting up a content might be an idea. I also like the idea on dailymonster.com to let your visitors write their own story in relation with your post. Also a nice concept.

  4. [...] you use these plugins with Thesis? After reading the following article – 6 Ways To Add More User-Interactivity To Your Blog DivitoDesign I was wondering if anyone here is using any of the 6 plugins mentioned in the article. If yes, what [...]

  5. @Matt – Having polls is always a good idea! It really helped me building some more user interactivity. You should do that!

@Svetainiu – You should do that! Polls are always good :) .

@Santhos – Content ofcourse the most important part of whole blog! I don’t know Dailymonster but it sounds like a good idea!

    Thanks for your comments!

Hey man, thanks for adding me to the list and for the link. I actually use a third party service called ShoutMix and then I embed the shoutmix box into a Text Widget on my blog. However, if I would of known about WP-Wall http://www.prelovac.com/vladimir/wordpress-plugins/wp-wall I would have used that instead.

  8. Hey Jeffro — No problem, and thanks for the recommendation. I will add that to the article.

  9. Konstantin says:

You have mentioned wordpress-only ratings, I think this one will be nice for every blog: http://js-kit.com/ratings/

  10. @Konstantin — I agree, nice piece of software!

  11. useful tips described in a good way, ya polling helps a lot but never thought about shout box, should give it a try. Also i agree with Santhos that the content should be real interesting if the visitors have to stick to your blog.

I think Santhos has the real point at issue. Content is and always has been king.

  14. loveprone says:

Nice tips and tricks. The Polls and Voting Options works best. How about a plug-in that let the audience suggest titles for the respective posts?

  15. Sumesh says:

Often, these methods do not work on smaller blogs (I’m saying from experience). However, it seems that forums and community links do go well.

The community news plugin looks awesome – thanks for introducing it to me!

i believe it’s unnecessary to keep a shoutbox on the site. the page loads harder because of that. on the other hand, the rest are “a must have”.

  18. Venky says:

Yeah.. I too agree these things will help in user interaction..
But I’m afraid of the people who misuses or use abuse words in the same.. It always make me trouble…

  19. Just to say a HUGE thank you for the star rating tip it’s just what I needed :)

I agree, if your content is what people are there for then you might as well spend a little more time on it.

But keeping users active, making them feel welcome is making their experience broader than just “good content”.

I personally like the polls and voting. I’m going to try those out some time in the future.

  23. Lindsay says:

I have found voting can be useful (and remember to provide a list of top rated posts). Also requesting user suggested posts or guest posts can work on some blogs.

  24. Chelle says:

Great tips! I have been getting 23,000 pageviews a month, but not too much interaction from the readers. I tried a poll once, it didn’t do too well, I think I only had one or two votes after a few months…

But then again I think it also depends on the blog and the topic/target audience.

    • Hey Chelle, thank you for your reply. If you have 23.000 pageviews a month, you should see some more interaction from your readers, especially with a poll. One thing that might work is asking a question in your article and refer them to the poll to vote. Or you could make the poll stand out some more.

I hope that helped. I like the site you have there, the 100 best romantic movies will help me out! :)

  25. I like the idea of using plugins and knowing now that there is one for polls will come in handy. I’m going to give it a try.

  26. [...] 6 Ways To Add More User-Interactivity To Your Blog » DivitoDesign One big difference between a blog and a website is the way visitors can interact with the blog author. Bloggers allow all their visitors to leave a comment anytime. If they asked a question, simple say they enjoyed the article or when you don’t agree with the author’s opinion. That’s the power of the blog. [...]

  28. do you nkow how i can implement the voting system without the use of wordpress?

  29. Cool techniques , and i believe that they are really effective and its really worth a try, thanks for this great share and good write up. Cheers

All the comments must be replied by the author of each blog so as it adds the best user interactivity with other bloggers as well as author

  31. Voting an polls are very important in my opinion.
    great post like ever

  32. I really found most of the tips very useful and will improve my site by using your advice and is it possible to add the shout box to a person using blogger?
    Thanks.

  33. Anne says:

I’m seriously thinking about adding a poll to my blog site. Would it really attract visitors? Or just keep my old ones coming back?

  34. TUWD says:

I’ve found that adding a “subscribe to comments” option leads to great interactivity as users will come back to leave more than one comment. It’s a good community builder and easy to implement.

  35. Sock Yee says:

I love the ideas put forward to enrich the level of interactivity. Other than the tricks which you’ve mentioned here, I think there’s another way whereby you can invite users to participate in your blog by asking them to contribute contents or photographs and in return, offer them credits and acknowledgment. Works well for me so far, just hope that helps. Cheers

  36. The GD star rating plug in is just what we needed – i’ve been looking to add reviews to my discount site for ages but none of the the good review plugins are free but that star system should do just as well. Thank you

  37. Some great ideas listed in this article, the GD star rating system would work great on our blog. Thanks for the excellent post.

  38. Always ask the reader for their opinions on you have written at the end of post, like this one for example. It makes you feel like the writer values you opinion. I’m also a big fan of the star rating plugin, that really helps add interactivity to a blog.

  39. I really like the idea of the stars and poll, adding interactivity to a blog, even if it is just stars, makes the user feel attached to it. I also like the idea of a shout box. Thank you
